HUUM Hive 12 12 kW Electric Sauna Heater

The HUUM HIVE 12 is a 12 kW floor-standing electric sauna heater for rooms of 424–636 cubic feet on a 240V single-phase supply. It holds 528 lb of stones and requires a HUUM UKU control, sold separately, plus a UKU Extension Box.

HIVE is the large-format HUUM: a geometric stone mass built for health clubs, spas and big private rooms. The stone charge is the point — up to 528 lb — which is what produces the slow, heavy steam a commercial room needs when the door opens every few minutes.

Measure width × depth × height in feet. Add extra volume for anything that soaks up heat rather than reflecting it — glass, tile, concrete, stone and exposed log all make a room behave larger than its raw measurement. Size to the larger number: an undersized heater never gets the room right, and running it flat out shortens the elements.

HUUM lists these accessories for the HIVE 12. All are sold separately.

• Mount to the clearances given in the installation manual.
• The pre-installed HIVE air tunnel is in the box. The supplier states it shortens heat-up time and increases the life of the heating elements.
• HUUM specifies rounded olivine stones, not the split-face stones other brands use. Load them loosely by hand so air moves freely, and never run the heater with an empty or tightly packed stone space.
• The UKU temperature sensor mounts inside the hot room on the wall above the heater. Sensor position changes how the room behaves more than any setting on the panel does.
• Pour small ladlefuls of clean water onto the stones only — never onto the body or the elements. Mix any scented oil into the bucket first.

Does the HUUM HIVE 12 include a control?

No, and it cannot run without one. Every HUUM electric heater ships with no controls on the body — you add a HUUM UKU control, sold separately, which mounts outside the hot room and lets you bring the sauna up to temperature before you walk in. This heater is over 11 kW, so it needs a UKU Extension Box as well.

What stones does the HUUM HIVE 12 take?

Rounded olivine, 5-10cm — 16 boxes, 528 lb in total. HUUM specifies rounded stones rather than the split-face stones other brands use: they suit the open HUUM basket and give a milder steam. Stones are not included.

Is the HUUM HIVE 12 certified for use in the US?
