Installation & Use Notes
  • Stones are the thermal mass that makes a sauna a sauna: the heater warms them, they hold the heat, and water thrown on them flashes to steam instead of hitting bare metal.
  • HUUM specifies rounded olivine, not the split-face stones other brands use — rounded suits the open HUUM baskets and gives a milder steam.
  • Check which size your heater calls for. CLIFF and STEEL take 3-5 cm; DROP, HIVE, CORE and the wood stoves take 5-10 cm.
  • Stack loosely by hand, largest at the bottom, so air moves freely between them.
  • Re-stack once a year and replace any that have cracked or crumbled.
