Gas Fire Pit Tables: The Complete Buyer's Guide (2026)

A gas fire pit table is an outdoor table with a built-in burner that runs on propane or natural gas, giving you instant, clean flame at the push of a button with no wood, smoke, or ash. The best ones combine a durable material like concrete, steel, or marble-porcelain with a stainless burner, in a shape and size that suits your patio. This guide covers how gas fire tables work, how to choose fuel, material, shape, and size, and our favorite tables from Elementi and The Outdoor GreatRoom Company. All ship free.

What is a gas fire pit table?

A gas fire pit table is a patio table with a fire feature built into the top. Under the flame sits a stainless steel burner surrounded by fire glass or lava rock, fed by propane or natural gas and lit with an electronic push-button igniter. You get a controllable flame instantly, with none of the smoke, sparks, or cleanup of a wood fire, plus a usable ledge around the burner for drinks and plates. Most tables can also take a burner cover or a stainless lid so the table doubles as a normal surface when the fire is off.

Propane or natural gas?

Both fuels give the same clean flame; the difference is supply. Propane runs from a refillable tank, so the table can go anywhere, and many modern tables hide the tank inside the base for a clean look. Natural gas connects to a fixed gas line for unlimited runtime and no tank swaps, but the table stays where the line is. Choose propane for flexibility and easy setup, natural gas for convenience if you already have a line. We compare them fully in our propane vs natural gas guide.

Which material is best?

The top gas fire tables are built from a few premium materials, each with its own look.

Material Look & feel Best for
Concrete (GFRC) Solid, matte, modern Value and versatile modern style
Steel & powder-coat Sleek, lighter, durable Clean lines and easy handling
Marble-porcelain Glossy, luxe, wipe-clean Upscale, design-led patios

Concrete is the most popular for its solid, contemporary look and value; marble-porcelain tops the range for luxury. For a deeper comparison, see our materials guide.

Shape and size

Round and square tables seat everyone an equal distance from the flame and suit compact or square patios; rectangular and linear tables seat more, fit long layouts, and give a dramatic ribbon of flame. For size, a 36 to 43 inch round or square table works for a small group, while a 56 to 66 inch rectangular table suits a full sectional. Our shape guide and sizing guide walk through it.

Frequently asked questions

How does a gas fire pit table work?

A stainless burner under the tabletop is fed by propane or natural gas and lit by an electronic push-button igniter. Fire glass or lava rock surrounds the burner for looks and to spread the flame. You control the flame height with a knob and shut it off when done.

Are gas fire pit tables safe?

Yes, when used correctly. Keep a safe distance from walls, fences, and anything combustible, never use a gas fire table in an enclosed space, and turn off the fuel when finished. A glass wind guard helps keep the flame steady outdoors.

Do gas fire pit tables give off much heat?

They provide pleasant warmth for a seating area, though a gas fire table is more about ambience and gathering than being a primary heat source. For dedicated heat, pair it with a patio heater.

Can you cook on a gas fire pit table?

They are designed for ambience, not cooking. Roasting a marshmallow over the flame is fine, but do not use them as a grill, and avoid dripping food into the burner.

Do gas fire pit tables ship free?

Yes. All of our Elementi and Outdoor GreatRoom gas fire pit tables ship free.
